Press and reviews
Savorant, for writers and reviewers.
Savorant is a whiskey palate training app. It teaches you the words for what you taste, anchored to things from the grocery store, then tests you blind and scores the result honestly.
The short version
- What it is: sensory training for whiskey, on your phone. Not a tasting journal or a bottle tracker.
- Available: Google Play now. The iPhone version is coming soon.
- Price: daily training is free. Savorant Full is $29.99 a year, or $69.99 once for Founding Tasters. 30 days of everything at signup, no card.
- For: adults 21 and over in the United States.
- Made by: Drunken Unicorn Productions.
What’s different about it
- Blind tests that count. Triangle tests scored by exact probability. It stays silent under 18 rounds and calls a result at fixed points: 18, 36, 54. At 18, about 10 right beats luck.
- You can test yourself alone. The glass shuffle: mark the base of the odd glass, shuffle with your eyes closed, call it, lift to check.
- A secret repeat. One mystery pour in six is a whiskey you’ve already rated, to see whether you describe it the same way twice.
- A real course. Ten flavor families, 35 units, two of four levels live. Levels are earned by the words you name on your own.
- Honest about the evidence. It won’t improve your sense of smell, and nobody has yet studied whether an app like this works. The research page says what the studies do and don’t show.
