Terms of Service
1. What Savorant is
Savorant is an educational app that trains your senses of smell and taste through structured tasting sessions, drills, and blind trials. It is a teaching instrument, not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical, dietary, or professional advice.
2. Who may use it
Savorant is currently offered in the United States only. You must be at least 21 years old — the legal drinking age here — and you confirm this when you create an account. Misstating your age to create an account is a material breach of these terms, and we may close the account when we learn of it. Savorant never sells alcohol and never delivers it. What you choose to pour is your own decision and your own responsibility.
3. Drink responsibly — these are conditions, not suggestions
Savorant trains perception, not consumption. Every exercise is designed around one small pour — half an ounce is plenty — and professional tasters spit; so may you, with no loss of training value. No feature of this app measures, rewards, or encourages volume, and none ever will.
- Never drive or operate machinery after tasting. A training session is still drinking, however small the pour.
- Do not use the tasting exercises if you are pregnant or may be, in recovery, taking medication that interacts with alcohol, or advised by a physician not to drink. The smell-training portions of the app work with grocery-shelf aromas and require no alcohol at all.
- Alcohol is addictive. If drinking has stopped feeling like a choice, stop tasting and talk to someone. In the United States, the SAMHSA National Helpline is free and confidential: 1-800-662-4357.
If you cannot meet these conditions, do not use the tasting features. That is the firm line, and we mean it.
4. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password private and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly at palate@savorant.com if you believe it has been used without your permission. You may delete your account at any time in Settings → Account.
5. Subscriptions and payment
Parts of Savorant are free to use. Other parts require a paid subscription, purchased through the App Store or Google Play and billed by Apple or Google, not by us. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you cancel and manage them in your Apple or Google account settings, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the current period. Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its policies. Prices may change with notice; changes never apply to a period you've already paid for.
6. What's yours
Your tasting records, notes, and verdicts are yours. We store them so the app can show them back to you, and we don't claim ownership of them or sell them. If you opt in to research, that is governed separately by the consent you sign in Settings and by our privacy policy.
7. What's ours
The app, its designs, and its written content — including the sensory vocabulary, lessons, and course structure — belong to Drunken Unicorn Productions. You may use them within the app for your own training. You may not copy, resell, or republish them.
8. Fair use of the service
Don't attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, don't use it to store unlawful content, and don't share an account across many people.
9. No warranty, and limits
Savorant is provided as-is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and sensory training results vary from person to person. To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Ending it
You may stop using Savorant and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that abuses the service or breaks these terms; if we do, we will tell you why where we're able to.
11. Changes and governing law
If these terms change materially, we'll say so in the app before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States.
